Members of the Lane End Twinning Association celebrated the 10th anniversary of the official twinning between St Pierre ad Lane End during the weekend of 1 - 4 May 2009. Twenty-three villagers travelled by various means to make the journey to Ile d'Oleron. A ‘Gumball Rally' comprising seven sports cars drove from the Grouse and Ale to St Pierre via Le Mans to provide an exciting backdrop to the weekend's activities. During the weekend everyone participated in a range of activities that included sailing in a catamaran, playing golf, competing in petanque and visiting an oyster producer. We all attended a special dinner on the Saturday night where LETA presented Mon Patrick Moquay, the Mayor of St Pierre, with a beautiful, locally made wooden bowl to mark this important occasion. |
